Whalers win exciting game in overtime
The Whalers won an exciting game in overtime Saturday against Saginaw 4-3. Zach Lorentz was at the side of the net and batted a puck out of the air into the net to win the game.
There are so many new players we are having a hard time figuring out who is who. Zach Lorentz looks solid on defense. Francesco Vilardi is small but he hustles and looks like he can be a goal scorer. Carter Sandlak plays a pretty tough game like Jamie Devane did. The other guys, I am still learning how they play. I never saw so many new guys.
Ryan Hartman is still around and that is cool and he got two goals Saturday. Ryan is always good.
I hope the new guys can step up and learn how to play together or else we might not make the playoffs. Next week at autograph night, I can see the new Whalers close up so I can start getting to know them. My dad was joking that they are going to have to get to know me because I am always around.
I will root for the Whalers always and it doesn't matter how they are doing if they are trying hard.

Whalers Alumni Game
Ok, so Saturday I went to the Whalers Alumni Game and it was great. A lot of Whalers from the past came and played a game against each other. I knew most of the players because I have been going to Whaler games since 2005 when I was 3 years old. The older guys I did not know. Before the game, there was an autograph session with the players. I brought my Whalers cards, some NHL cards and one picture of me and Tyler Seguin and got them signed. I got 22 hockey cards signed and now I have 155 Whaler signed cards. I got the others signed at the Alumni Game two years ago and also at Team Autograph Night during the season. I wanted to scan some of my autographed cards to put on this post but my mom couldn't get them up today and I did not want to wait on this post any more.
All the Whalers were nice and they asked me "How are you doing?" which was cool. I gave Tyler Seguin a picture of me and him to sign and he looked at it and smiled and said "I remember this. It was at Tim Horton's". That was cool that he remembered. Also Jamie Devane was really nice and he is always nice and he asked me how my summer was going. That was cool. I am going to miss Jamie. He came to my school once and saw me and said "I know you. What is your name?" and I told him I was Louis and then he remembered it when I saw him at the rink after.
The game was good and high-scoring and Matt Hackett made some pretty awesome saves. Well, he is in the NHL, you know. We remember when he came over from Windsor and we saw his first games with the Whalers. He got good real quick. He is nice too but I think he is kind of quiet. I go to every Whaler game but I usually end up missing 3 or 4 games a year because of my hockey tournaments and other stuff.
The last couple of years, I would do a blog report after most games on my other site. This year, I am going to try and do a blog report after maybe every game on this site. I think it's gonna be fun.
Come back this season if you like the Whalers!
