Whalers keep winning!

Yesterday we saw the Whalers beat the Owen Sound Attack in Game 1 of Round 2 of the playoffs. The Whalers have won 22 of their last 23 games.

Owen Sound is really good. They are big, fast and physical, just like the Whalers. The Attack were winning 1-0 after the second period and everybody was getting nervous. Then on a power play, Garrett Meurs scored left circle and went top shelf. That is the second picture. Then Sebastian Uvira used his speed and got two breakaways and scored on both. Compuware Arena was going crazy! Then  Rickard Rakell scored on an empty net at the end on the real long shot. It was a great game.

Owen Sound is really good and they are going to be hard to beat. I give Sebastian Uvira the Whaler Town player of the game. Sebastian is one of my favorite players on the team, and he is really friendly and likes kids.

The next game is Sunday at Compuware Arena and I am going.

Whalers come from behind to beat the Steelheads

The Whalers played the Mississauga Steelheads yesterday at Compuware Arena. Mississauga used to be the Majors but they changed their name to Steelheads this year. Their new jerseys have a fish on them and I don't think I like them.

Well the Whalers came from behind and won 3-2. The Whalers outshot the Steelheads badly and had 42 shots. I don't know how many the Steelheadsd had but halfway through the third period, I looked up and they still only had 9 shots all game. The Steelheads aren't bad but I think they wait for the perfect shot, and I think they should shoot more. They had one weak shot on the power play that went in so you never know what will happen if you shoot. Mississauga' goalie, Spencer Martin stopped a lot of shots but he gives up a lot of rebounds on easy shots which is not good.

The Whalers played pretty decent. Ryan Hartman got a goal and assist and was a pest all night and getting on the Steelheads nerves. Garrett Meurs scored the game-winner so I give him the Whaler Town player of the game. I put his picture up and also one of him and me taken 3-4 years ago when I was a lot smaller.

My team, Arsenal starts up today and I hope we win. My coach moved me up from his 12 year old team to his 14 year old team which is cool because I am 10 years old. After that, we go see the Whalers play the Soo Greyhounds. I hope they win too.

Garrett wins it for the Whalers!

The Whalers beat the Kitchener Rangers yesterday 2-1 and Garret Meurs scored both goals for the Whalers with the second one winning the game in overtime. On the overtime goal, he came in on left wing and skated around Max Iafrate of the Rangers and then cut in the crease and put it by the goalie. It was right in front of us and it was great!

I give the Garrett the Whaler Town player of the game and I put up a picture of him and me that was taken when Garrett visited my school a few years ago. He is a nice guy.

Now the bad news. The Tigers are losing 3-0 in the World Series. Me and my dad have tickets for Game 5 and if the Tigers don't win the next game, there won't even be a Game 5! Not good, you know.

The good news is that my hockey team, Arsenal is 4-1 and in first place! Our coach said we are going to play in the Nationals in Hersey Center in Mississauga, Ontario in July. I was talking to Alex Aleardi at C.J's and he plays roller hockey too and  he said his team is playing there too in the Nationals so that is cool. Maybe I will see him.

Greyhounds race by the Whalers 3-2

Yesterday we saw the Whalers lose to the Soo Greyhounds 3-2 in overtime at the Pink Out game.

I thought both teams played about even. The shots were even at 33. The officials were calling a lot of stuff on the Whalers and I couldn't even see some of the penalties that were called and I watch every play. On one that I did see, they called Ryan Hartman for skating near a Greyhound at center ice and their legs hit and I don't see how that is a penalty. I know Coach Vellucci was arguing that one.

Nick Cousins of the Greyhounds scored a weird goal where he went around the Whaler net and put in a wraparound. I think Matt Mahalak may have lost him because he did not shift over and Cousins put the puck into an open net. Really strange to watch. Oh well.

Garrett Muers and Alex Aleardi scored for the Whalers. Aleardi's was really cool because he stole the puck from a Soo player near the Soo net and then shot it in the net. That was a great goal so I give Alex the Whaler Town player of the game and put his picture with me up here. Shooter snuck in there too.

One good thing is I got a Whalers fathead that I will put up in my room next to my Tyler Seguin fathead I hope the Whalers pick it up a little and I think they will.

I took pictures of the Whalers in their Pink Out jerseys and will put them up when I get them.

Whalers as Waiters Night at C.J's

A couple of days ago, me and my mom went to C.J's at Compuware Arena for the Whalers as Waiters Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. I went last year too. It is fun.

Ryan Hartman was our waiter and took our order and then brought the pizza to our table. Ryan is pretty nice but he isn't really a waiter because a waitress came back to our table to double check our order because they couldn't read Ryan's writing. That was funny.

All the Whalers were really nice and I got my picture taken with a lot of them. I got signed hockey cards from Alex Aleardi, Rickard Rakell and Nick Malysa. I have a picture up top of Rakell signing my card. I now have 191 signed Whaler cards. Rickard is really good and is drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. I also got a picture of Alex Aleardi and Nick Malysa working behind the bar.

Char from the Whalers came to our table and asked me who my favorite Whaler was and I told her Alex Aleardi and then she went and got Alex and brought him to our table. I have talked to Alex before and I know he plays roller hockey like me because he told me that before. I even know what team he plays on. I told him I am on a new roller hockey team and we are probably going to play in the Nationals in July in Mississauga near Toronto. Alex said he is going to be playing at Nationals too at the same time so maybe I will see him there. That would be cool.

Today is the Pink Out Game for Breast Cancer against the Greyhounds and I am going and I hope they win.

Go Whalers!
