Whalers keep winning!

Yesterday we saw the Whalers beat the Owen Sound Attack in Game 1 of Round 2 of the playoffs. The Whalers have won 22 of their last 23 games.

Owen Sound is really good. They are big, fast and physical, just like the Whalers. The Attack were winning 1-0 after the second period and everybody was getting nervous. Then on a power play, Garrett Meurs scored left circle and went top shelf. That is the second picture. Then Sebastian Uvira used his speed and got two breakaways and scored on both. Compuware Arena was going crazy! Then  Rickard Rakell scored on an empty net at the end on the real long shot. It was a great game.

Owen Sound is really good and they are going to be hard to beat. I give Sebastian Uvira the Whaler Town player of the game. Sebastian is one of my favorite players on the team, and he is really friendly and likes kids.

The next game is Sunday at Compuware Arena and I am going.

Whalers wreck the Spitfires

The Whalers beat the Windsor Spitfires 9-1 at Compuware Arena yesterday. Both Rickard Rakell and Cody Payne got hat tricks.

Windsor is probably the worst team I have seen all year and probably worse than Ottawa. They couldn't do anything. I don't know how they won 23 games. This one guy was sitting next to us and said after the first few minutes  "Windsor is terrible and can't even get the puck out of their own end. This game might end 9-0. How did they get so terrible?" The only good player for them was Alex Aleardi and he scored their only goal. I feel bad for Alex who has to end his career with this team and won't get to play in the playoffs.

There was one strange play. Ryan Hartman did a wrap around and kind of shot it at the corner of the net and nobody saw the puck and the refs blew the whistle and signaled "no goal". Then when the Windsor goalie got up, he reached into a side of the net and pulled the puck out of the net and gave it to the ref. Then we all started screaming "Hey he pulled the puck out of the net! That is a goal!". Then they reviewed it on the replay and then they signaled that it was a goal so that was cool.

I give Rickard Rakell the Whaler Town player of the game.

The Whalers play the Sarnia Sting tonight but I can't go because I have a practice for my new travel tournament team so that will be fun.

Go Whalers!

Ryan Hartman (US) v Rickard Rakell (Sweden) in the finals!

The US is playing Sweden in the World Juniors Finals!

Hartman v Rakell. Either way, the Whalers win!

I am rooting for the US but if Sweden wins that will be cool too.

I have a hockey card of Rakell holding up the trophy when Sweden won it last year and I had Rickard sign it and it is cool.

Hey did you hear?

Hey did you here that Rickard Rakell, Tom Wilson, Stefan Noesen and Ryan Hartman are all maybe going to play in the World Juniors Tournament for their countries? That is cool.

When the Tournament goes on, we won't have those players so I still hope we do ok but we have enough good guys to do well.

One thing that is cool is that Sweden and Rickard Rakell won the tournament last year and I have a hockey card with Rakell holding the trophy and I got Rickard to sign the card and I even have a picture of it. Rickard is pretty nice. Before the last game, he was playing soccer in the concourse and the ball got past him and it was rolling to me. I kicked the ball right back to him and he had the biggest smile on his face.

The pictures are a little messed up. I found one of Rakell, Wilson and Noesen because I thought only they made the teams. Then I asked my dad to check my post for spelling and stuff before I post it like I always do. My dad said, "Hartman made it too. You need to add him." I missed that Hartman made it but found a picture and added it, but it's separate.

Go Whalers at the World Juniors Tournament!

Whalers win on Election Day!

Hey, the Whalers beat the Saginaw Spirit 4-1 today. It was the special Election Day afternoon game.

The first two periods were just ok for the Whalers but in the third period they turned it on and got two goals and beat the Spirit. There weren't many people at the game because it was an afternoon game during the week but they missed all the fun. Actually after the game, we were eating at McDonald's in Northville and a boy my age came in and saw my jersey and said "Are you going to the Whalers game tonight?". I said "They just played and we went and they won." He said "I wish I went!"

Rickard Rakell scored one goal and had two assists. Stefan Noesen had two goals so I give him the Whaler Town player of the game. I put up a picture of Stefan, Mitchell Heard and me.

Also tomorrow is my brother Alex's 16th birthday and they announced his name and birthday over the loudspeaker and put his name on the big screen. He did not even know they were going to do it and he was surprised.

The Whalers also play Friday and Saturday at Compuware Arena so we get three games this week!

Whalers as Waiters Night at C.J's

A couple of days ago, me and my mom went to C.J's at Compuware Arena for the Whalers as Waiters Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. I went last year too. It is fun.

Ryan Hartman was our waiter and took our order and then brought the pizza to our table. Ryan is pretty nice but he isn't really a waiter because a waitress came back to our table to double check our order because they couldn't read Ryan's writing. That was funny.

All the Whalers were really nice and I got my picture taken with a lot of them. I got signed hockey cards from Alex Aleardi, Rickard Rakell and Nick Malysa. I have a picture up top of Rakell signing my card. I now have 191 signed Whaler cards. Rickard is really good and is drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. I also got a picture of Alex Aleardi and Nick Malysa working behind the bar.

Char from the Whalers came to our table and asked me who my favorite Whaler was and I told her Alex Aleardi and then she went and got Alex and brought him to our table. I have talked to Alex before and I know he plays roller hockey like me because he told me that before. I even know what team he plays on. I told him I am on a new roller hockey team and we are probably going to play in the Nationals in July in Mississauga near Toronto. Alex said he is going to be playing at Nationals too at the same time so maybe I will see him there. That would be cool.

Today is the Pink Out Game for Breast Cancer against the Greyhounds and I am going and I hope they win.

Go Whalers!

Hey the Whalers got a new player from Sweden!

His name is Simon Karlsson and he is a defenseman.

I saw him last night at C.J's where the Whalers were working as waiters for Breast Cancer Awareness. He looks like Nick Lidstrom from the Red Wings who is also from Sweden. I put up a picture of Simon with Rickard Rakell of the Whalers who from Sweden too. That is pretty cool.

I will post some pictures of me with Whaler players at C.J's when my mom gets them up from her camera.
