Good luck to Tom Wilson who is staying with the Capitals this year!
Tom is gonna bring some Whaler muscle to the NHL. He is nice too and would say hi to me when I would stand by the tunnel.
Good game Saturday where the Whalers won against Kitchener. We were outshot like we have been all year but we just gotta hang in there until the new guys learn how to play together. We always stay to the end and were cheering Carter Sandlack's empty-net goal.
After the game, the players signed autographs and I got some of my Whaler cards signed but most of the players do not have cards yet because they are new to the team. It also gave me a chance to see what these new guys even look like close up with no helmet. I have over 200 signed Whaler cards and I should count exactly how many I have. I bet I have the record for signed Whaler cards.

Hey Tom Wilson is playing for the Capitals tonight in the playoffs!
When I get home from my hockey practice tonight, I am going to see if I can find this game on Hockey Night in Canada or somewhere.
Go Tom Wilson!

The Whalers get back to their winning ways!
Well after losing 7 games in a row, the Whalers beat the Saginaw Spirit 4-2 this afternoon. The first period wasn't so great and sloppy and Saginaw outshot the Whalers by a lot and were winning 1-0. It wasn't looking so good. The Whalers picked it up in the second and third periods. Saginaw's goalie was pretty shaky and let some easy goals in but we will take them.
It was really strange seeing Nick Malysa play forward, I think because Rickard Rakell and Ryan Hartman are away at the World Juniors. Nick did pretty good and he almost scored. For his first shift, we were saying "What is he doing over there by the net?" because we didn't know he was playing forward.
Tom Wilson had one goal and one assist and I give him the Whalertown player of the game. Wilson should be playing for Canada in the World Juniors but he got cut so that is ok because he can help the Whalers win games while the World Juniors are going on. I told my dad that the best line tonight was Wilson, Mistele and Payne and he said "yep".
Allison Schmitt who won three gold medals in swimming in the London Olympics was at the game and she did the puck drop and she was signing autographs between periods and there was a real long line so that was cool.
I have to miss Saturday's game against London because I have a family thing to do. Oh well, I will check out the game on my ipod at my family party. I don't like missing games and think this will only be the second one I miss this year so far.

Whalers lose to Saginaw but we saw a zamboni crash!
We saw the Whalers play the Saginaw Spirit yesterday. The Whalers were outshooting Saginaw and winning the whole game and then with two minutes left, Saginaw tied it on a power play. Then in overtime, Justin Kea scored and won the game for the Spirit 3-2. The puck just floated slow past Mahalak like a knuckleball. Justin's dad was standing right behind our seat and he said "My son just won the game!" There were a lot of Saginaw fans standing behind us and one guy (not Mr. Kea) was not nice at all and screaming and swearing all game and I did not want his team to win but they did. Some of the Saginaw fans were screaming "I can't believe we won!" Not good.
Tom Wilson of the Whalers scored on a nice redirect goal. Ryan Hartman scored too and he had a lot of good shots. Hartman also threw a really great check in the third period which started a fight. Wilson was one of the stars of the game and when he came out for that after the game, he threw a Whalers shirt to me. It is blue and looks cool. Also we were wondering why Alex Aleardi did not get many shifts and then my brother went to his twitter and saw he was sick all day. I hope he gets better for today's game.
We also saw a zamboni crash! In the second intermission when the zambonis were on the ice, I heard a loud "boom" and then I looked and the first zamboni driver crashed into the boards when he was trying to drive off the ice, The zamboni was even stuck for a while. Then he got the zamboni free and backed it up and drove it through the opening. Then when the second zamboni driver drove his out without hitting anything, the people in the crowd gave him a standing ovation. That was pretty funny.
The Whalers have to win tomorrow against Oshawa because I don't want two losses in two days.
Go Whalers!

Hey did you hear?
When the Tournament goes on, we won't have those players so I still hope we do ok but we have enough good guys to do well.
One thing that is cool is that Sweden and Rickard Rakell won the tournament last year and I have a hockey card with Rakell holding the trophy and I got Rickard to sign the card and I even have a picture of it. Rickard is pretty nice. Before the last game, he was playing soccer in the concourse and the ball got past him and it was rolling to me. I kicked the ball right back to him and he had the biggest smile on his face.
The pictures are a little messed up. I found one of Rakell, Wilson and Noesen because I thought only they made the teams. Then I asked my dad to check my post for spelling and stuff before I post it like I always do. My dad said, "Hartman made it too. You need to add him." I missed that Hartman made it but found a picture and added it, but it's separate.
Go Whalers at the World Juniors Tournament!

Opening night
The game started out really good as the Whalers scored less than one minute into the game. Colin MacDonald scored on a long shot on our side of the ice and it might have gone off a Bull into the net because there was a lot of traffic there. Then Ryan Hartman scored off the right wing and went top shelf. It was Ryan's first OHL goal and that was great.
Then the Whalers cooled down and they weren't too hot in the second and third periods and the Bulls caught them and beat us in a shootout. Sometimes the Whalers had a shot close to the net but they passed to get a better shot and then never even got a shot. Maybe they should just shoot when they are close but my dad says they know what they are doing. Oh well.
I took some pictures in warmups but I have to wait for my mom to load them on my computer so I can post them. The usher said to me "Why are you taking pictures?" and I said "Can't I?" and he said "Yeah, I'm just messin' with you." He is pretty nice.
Tom Wilson gave me a Whalers puck during warmups and that was cool so I put his picture up here. I also put up a picture of Hartman's first OHL goal.
The Whaler players are all still pretty cool. I saw J.T. Miller eating a sub before the game and we said "That looks good" and he said "Thank you. I made it myself." We talked with J.T. before and he is "goofy" funny.
I had hockey practice just before the game and when we were done, I was putting on my Whalers jersey and my coach asked me if I was going to the Whalers game and I said yes I go to every game. He told me Nick and Domenick from my team were going too and I saw them there and that was cool. At the Total Sports rink in Novi where we play some of our games, a lot of people and parents too wear Whalers stuff.
I am going to see if I can get some of my pictures up later.
I know the Whalers will do better next week against Sudbury. It is too bad I have to miss the next game because I have something that I need to do and I am not happy about this. I only missed 4 games last year so I don't like this. My brother Alex and my dad will be going to the game and they will tell me about it so I can still post.
Go Whalers!
