The Whalers get back to their winning ways!

Well after losing 7 games in a row, the Whalers beat the Saginaw Spirit 4-2 this afternoon. The first period wasn't so great and sloppy and Saginaw outshot the Whalers by a lot and were winning 1-0. It wasn't looking so good. The Whalers picked it up in the second and third periods. Saginaw's goalie was pretty shaky and let some easy goals in but we will take them.

It was really strange seeing Nick Malysa play forward, I think because Rickard Rakell and Ryan Hartman are away at the World Juniors. Nick did pretty good and he almost scored. For his first shift, we were saying "What is he doing over there by the net?" because we didn't know he was playing forward.

Tom Wilson had one goal and one assist and I give him the Whalertown player of the game. Wilson should be playing for Canada in the World Juniors but he got cut so that is ok because he can help the Whalers win games while the World Juniors are going on. I told my dad that the best line tonight was Wilson, Mistele and Payne and he said "yep".

Allison Schmitt who won three gold medals in swimming in the London Olympics was at the game and she did the puck drop and she was signing autographs between periods and there was a real long line so that was cool.

I have to miss Saturday's game against London because I have a family thing to do. Oh well, I will check out the game on my ipod at my family party. I don't like missing games and think this will only be the second one I miss this year so far.

Stefan Noesen and the Whalers beat the Spitfires

The Whalers beat the Windsor Spitfires yesterday 5-3. The game was sold out which is good but it is a little hard to walk around when there are so many people there.

As usual, Windsor was getting really physical and taking a lot of penalties especially in the first period. Windsor has this new player who is number 66 and his name is Ho-Sang or something like that and he looks pretty fast and good. He needs to pass more though because he was always trying to stickhandle the puck through our defenders and it wasn't working.

They have Sieloff too, number 10 who was playing physical and talking a lot. I think those are the Spitfires good guys.

Michael Whaley scored his first goal of the year and that was cool. He had a good game forechecking too and harassing the Spitfires. We like Whaley.

Stefan Noesen was awesome and had two goals and two assists. He is always with Rickard Rakell now and they are looking good. I give Stefan Noesen the Whaler Town player of the game.

I also saw Nick Malysa walking around with a cast on his hand so that is not good and he is going to be missing some games. Oh well.

I think the Whalers forgot that I won the Kids Club signed photo two weeks ago because I won a signed photo of Alex Aleardi again last night but that is ok. I will take it. I wasn't even listening because I won two weeks ago and my dad said "They just announced your name. You won again!" I said "What?" and then I saw my name on the big screen so I went and got my signed photo.

Ok, we are going to see the Whalers play the London Knights tonight. I have tryouts for a tournament travel hockey team, the Arsenal 02's just before but I think can get to the Whalers game before it starts. Well, I hope so.

Talking to Nick at C.J's

My dad went to Compuware Arena yesterday to pick up some tickets and Char told him "It was so nice to see your wife and son at C.J's a couple of weeks ago for the Whalers as Waiters Night. Your son was so funny at the bar."

My dad was not there at C.J's that night so when he got home yesterday he asked me "What were you doing at the bar at C.J's that people were noticing you?"

I told my dad that I saw Nick Malysa and Alex Aleardi working behind the bar and serving customers. I wanted them to sign my hockey cards so I went over there with my cards and sat on a bar stool. Then Nick came over and was joking and said "What can I get you to drink?" and I said "I'll take a Bud Light."

I think that is what they were talking about.

I did not get a Bud Light though. Just Sierra Mist.

Whalers as Waiters Night at C.J's

A couple of days ago, me and my mom went to C.J's at Compuware Arena for the Whalers as Waiters Night for Breast Cancer Awareness. I went last year too. It is fun.

Ryan Hartman was our waiter and took our order and then brought the pizza to our table. Ryan is pretty nice but he isn't really a waiter because a waitress came back to our table to double check our order because they couldn't read Ryan's writing. That was funny.

All the Whalers were really nice and I got my picture taken with a lot of them. I got signed hockey cards from Alex Aleardi, Rickard Rakell and Nick Malysa. I have a picture up top of Rakell signing my card. I now have 191 signed Whaler cards. Rickard is really good and is drafted by the Anaheim Ducks. I also got a picture of Alex Aleardi and Nick Malysa working behind the bar.

Char from the Whalers came to our table and asked me who my favorite Whaler was and I told her Alex Aleardi and then she went and got Alex and brought him to our table. I have talked to Alex before and I know he plays roller hockey like me because he told me that before. I even know what team he plays on. I told him I am on a new roller hockey team and we are probably going to play in the Nationals in July in Mississauga near Toronto. Alex said he is going to be playing at Nationals too at the same time so maybe I will see him there. That would be cool.

Today is the Pink Out Game for Breast Cancer against the Greyhounds and I am going and I hope they win.

Go Whalers!
