Whaler Wednesday

I saw the Whalers play the Owen Sound Attack Wednesday and the Whalers lost 3-1. I think we might have lost because we did not have two of our best players, Ryan Hartman and Alex Peters. Ryan is a good forward and might be the best player on the team. I think I saw a brace on his arm when I saw him at the rink last week. I also saw Alex walking around crutches so hopefully they will both be back soon!

But now on to the game. Owen Sound came out quick and they scored after like 15 seconds and then they scored again. A little later we scored and going in to the second period it was 2-1 Owen Sound. Then a little bit into the 3rd period, the Attack scored. I said to my dad if the Whalers want to get back into this game they should bring it the puck to the point to Gianluca Curcuruto who is a really good defenseman who has a good shot. With around 2:00 left in the game they pulled the goalie Zack Bowman who came in for Ned who started. The Whalers tried to score a lot but they did not and I saw an Attack player winding up and take a shot and it hit the post. I was kind of happy because I did not want this game to go to bad, like 4-1 or something but it did not.

Well maybe tonight we can get a win at home against Oshawa and we are going.

Thanks for reading!

Great win the for Whalers!

I don't have much time because I am playing a hockey tournament today and tomorrow. So far we have won all three games we have played (8-0, 11-3 and 8-0).

Yesterday I watched the Whalers beat the Attack 5-0 to go up 3 games to 2. The Whalers outshot them like crazy but I don't have the numbers and I don't time to look it up now.

I give Alex Nedeljkovic the Whaler Town player of the game because he had a shutout.

Sorry, so short today.

Good game but Whalers lose to the Greyhounds

The Whalers lost 6-5 to the Greyhounds tonight. Even though the Whalers lost, it was a good game.

The Whalers were winning 3-1 in the first period and we thought they would win for sure but they didn't. Matt Mahalak did not come out of the dressing room after the first period and we hope he is not injured. It is nice to see Alex Nedeljkovic play and maybe he should play more.

Colin McDonald made a great play where he was in the penalty box and as soon as he jumped out he floored one of the Greyhounds who was skating in and that was awesome. He timed it perfect.

Vince Trocheck had two goals and I give him the Whaler Town player of the game. I wore my Washington Capitols jersey and when Tom Wilson saw it, he nodded and said "Yeah" because he is drafted by the Capitals. Tomorrow, I think I am going to wear my Ottawa Senators jersey.

One cool thing is we were sitting behind a guy who was a referee in the ECHL and he just moved here from Carolina. He was really nice and we were talking to him all game. He knew what all the penalties were going to be and we knew most of them too but he knew every one before they were announced. Once, the referee put his arm half-up and put it down real quick and we said "That is a half-call!" and we asked him if he ever did that and he said "Yep" and started laughing. He said he would not have waived the Whalers tip-in goal off on goaltender interference because it could have gone either way and the goalie was totally fooled and any goaltender interference had nothing to do with the goal. He also said on another call in the first period that you can't call goaltender interference after a goal has been scored like the refs did when the goalie got hit after the goal. He said it should have been roughing or unsportsmanlike conduct. We told him to come to more games. He said he is going to try and work some high school games in this area and work his way up. That is cool.

Tomorrow, the Whalers play Peterborough and we have to win that game because the Petes are not very good, so go Whalers!

Whalers with a great win over Owen Sound!

The Whalers won a great game yesterday against the Owen Sound Attack. The Whalers were winning 3-0 in the third period but Owen Sound scored two pretty goals that there was no way Alex Nedeljkovic could stop. Then Owen Sound scored a weak goal that went five-hole and tied it up. There were a lot of Owen Sound fans there and they were all cheering and blowing their horns and I was thinking "What is going on?"

Then with 13 seconds left in the game, Gianluca Curcuruto got the puck at the point and shot a really hard shot and it went in! Everybody was cheering like crazy and this was the loudest Compuware Arena was all year. Because of his great shot to win the game, I give Gianluca Curcuruto the Whaler Town player of the game. When Alex had a shutout going in the third period, I told my dad that he would probably be the Whaler Town player of the game but after the three goals, I had to think of someone else. Gianluca is a good choice because he scored the first goal too. Gianluca has the hardest shot on the Whalers I think.

Another good thing is that they announced my name over the loudspeaker because I won a signed photo of Alex Aleardi. It looks pretty good. Alex is my favorite player so that makes it even better.

Whalers beat the 67's

I was sick yesterday and could not get out of bed so I had to miss the Whalers game. I always have to miss one game a year because I am sick. I am feeling a little better today and am out of bed. I hope I can go to the game tonight because I have a teddy bear to throw on the ice for the Teddy Bear Toss game. We will see if I can make it.

My dad and my brother Alex went to the Ottawa game and told me the Whalers won 4-1. They said our new goalie Alex Nedeljkovic played pretty good but he did not have a lot of shots because the 67's are not very good. They also said Stefan Noesen had a great goal where he split the defense and got to the goal and went top shelf. They told me they were people from Ottawa there that had a drum they were banging just like that guy does at the Cleveland Indians game and we see him when we go to the Indians park.

Since I did not see the game I cannot give a Whaler Town player of the game and put their picture up so I just put a picture up of Shooter pointing to his favorite donuts at Tim Horton's. I think his favorite flavor of donut is probably sardines.
