Two Whaler games

Like my picture in my uniform? I took it myself. I have 9 goals and 3 assists in 6 games and am the leading scorer on my team which is Mission and the #3 scorer in the league. We are 2-4 so we have to pick it up.

I saw two Whaler games over the weekend. They didn't play so good Friday against Owen Sound. The Owen Sound players are pretty big but Carter Sandlak was battling and fighting them. I am liking him.

Saturday, the Whalers played better against Sarnia. The game-winning goal at the end by Zach Lorentz was great. It was right by us and he shot it with his back to the net. Compuware Arena got really loud after that.

Saturday was Pink Out day and my mom wore our pink Stefan Noesen jersey. A lot of people were wearing their pink jerseys. It's cool when my mom comes and she comes a couple of times a year. My Uncle Mike and Aunt Kristen came too.  My mom took me to the Whalers Pink Out dinner a few days before the game and I met a lot of the new players and got my picture taken with them. Matt Mistele asked me who my favorite player was and I said Ryan Hartman and Matt said "He is my favorite too." That's cool. It was a good time. Maybe I will post some pictures.

Can't win 'em all I guess

But I wish they could.

Oh well, the Whalers lost their first game of the playoffs to Owen Sound 3-1 today. It started out pretty good when Ryan Hartman scored. The rest of the game the Whalers had some good chances but just couldn't get the puck in the net. Then the Attack scored 3 goals and it was all over. The Whalers still played pretty decent and still outshot the Attack. I give Ryan Hartman the Whaler Town player of the game.

We noticed that the Whalers were doing their penalty kill a little different as Stefan Noesen was heavily pressuring and harassing the point. Usually, the Whalers mostly back in on the penalty kill but we like this way better as Owen Sound was having problems passing the puck back to the point and this was messing them up.

Games 3 and 4 are during the week at Owen Sound. Game 5 is at Compuware Arena but I have to miss because my tournament is that night and all weekend. Oh well. Here is a picture of my team Alkali Arsenal in action. I am second from the left in the white helmet. Will be thinking about the Whalers when I am playing.

Go Whalers!

As soon as Noesen threw that check....

....my dad said, "I think he is going to get suspended."

Then right after we watched the television replay behind the press box and he said, "Yep, something is gonna happen."

10 games. Oh well.

I hope Stefan can still play for the U.S. team in the World Juniors if he makes the team.

Can't wait to see Noesen when he comes back in January!

Bad: Whalers lose to Oshawa Good: I got a new stick!

The Whalers lost yesterday to the Oshawa Generals 4-3. Both teams played pretty good and the shots were even. Oshawa is pretty good and fast and physical. I still think the Whalers are better. We had a whole hockey team of kids from Oshawa who were in town to play a tournament in our section and every time the Generals scored, they all took off their shirts and started waiving them around. It was a little annoying, especially after the first time.

Stefan Noesen had a really nice goal where he did a backwards spin in front of the defender and then shot it in for a goal. I would give Stefan the Whaler Town player of the game but then he got a game misconduct for a bad charging penalty so that was not good. I give the Whaler Town player of the game to Connor Carrick because he said on twitter that he was throwing up all night but then he still played. I put up Connor in his Capitals uniform. Connor is smooth on the ice. Really solid.

The good news is I got a new stick! It is a Reebok 9K and I like it. It is lighter and a little longer than my other sticks and I was poke-checking more in our game Saturday. My team, Arsenal won and we are 7-3 and in first place and the playoffs start next week. I had a rush where I started behind our net and worked through the defense and got in on goal and dished to Mark on the left and he scored. My dad said it was a great play. My parents sometimes take pictures but not too many. They only have one picture where I scored a goal and this was three years ago when I was 7 years old. I put up the picture now. Man, we all look pretty little in that picture. Now I am 10 years old and play in the 12-year old league where some of the kids are pretty big. One is bigger than my 16 year old brother.

The OHL takes off for the Holidays so the players can go back home and visit with their families and most live in Ontario but some are from Sweden and Texas and Florida too. The next game at Compuware Arena is December 27th. I say let's have Arsenal win the playoffs and championship and then when the Whalers get back, they start winning again. And if the NHL comes back, that will be cool too.

Hey did you hear?

Hey did you here that Rickard Rakell, Tom Wilson, Stefan Noesen and Ryan Hartman are all maybe going to play in the World Juniors Tournament for their countries? That is cool.

When the Tournament goes on, we won't have those players so I still hope we do ok but we have enough good guys to do well.

One thing that is cool is that Sweden and Rickard Rakell won the tournament last year and I have a hockey card with Rakell holding the trophy and I got Rickard to sign the card and I even have a picture of it. Rickard is pretty nice. Before the last game, he was playing soccer in the concourse and the ball got past him and it was rolling to me. I kicked the ball right back to him and he had the biggest smile on his face.

The pictures are a little messed up. I found one of Rakell, Wilson and Noesen because I thought only they made the teams. Then I asked my dad to check my post for spelling and stuff before I post it like I always do. My dad said, "Hartman made it too. You need to add him." I missed that Hartman made it but found a picture and added it, but it's separate.

Go Whalers at the World Juniors Tournament!

Whalers beat the 67's

I was sick yesterday and could not get out of bed so I had to miss the Whalers game. I always have to miss one game a year because I am sick. I am feeling a little better today and am out of bed. I hope I can go to the game tonight because I have a teddy bear to throw on the ice for the Teddy Bear Toss game. We will see if I can make it.

My dad and my brother Alex went to the Ottawa game and told me the Whalers won 4-1. They said our new goalie Alex Nedeljkovic played pretty good but he did not have a lot of shots because the 67's are not very good. They also said Stefan Noesen had a great goal where he split the defense and got to the goal and went top shelf. They told me they were people from Ottawa there that had a drum they were banging just like that guy does at the Cleveland Indians game and we see him when we go to the Indians park.

Since I did not see the game I cannot give a Whaler Town player of the game and put their picture up so I just put a picture up of Shooter pointing to his favorite donuts at Tim Horton's. I think his favorite flavor of donut is probably sardines.

Knights shut out the Whalers

The Knights shut out the Whalers 5-0 yesterday. Not a good game but the Whalers did not play badly until the middle of the third period when things were getting a little sloppy. It was another sellout and I think there were even more people there than Friday night so that is good.

In pregame warmups, Stefan Noesen broke the glass behind the Whalers net with a shot and the glass had to be cleaned up and replaced before the game could start so the game started a little late. I have seen the glass break before. There were people taking pictures of it. I was down by the locker room with the Kids Club and we had to wait a long time for the players to come out for player introductions.

The Whalers didn't score but I give Michael Whaley the Whaler Town player of the game because he is doing a good job killing penalties and has done it all year.

There was some good news. Yesterday, I tried out for the Arsenal tournament travel team, the Arsenal 02's and I made the team! I already play on the regular Arsenal team but this team is the tournament team and we are going to travel and even play in Mississauga at the Hershey Center where the Steelheads play. So there was some some good stuff yesterday.

Oh I got hit with a puck in my left shoulder in my game yesterday and it still hurts. We lost and we are 5-2 now so my game was rough too.

Stefan Noesen and the Whalers beat the Spitfires

The Whalers beat the Windsor Spitfires yesterday 5-3. The game was sold out which is good but it is a little hard to walk around when there are so many people there.

As usual, Windsor was getting really physical and taking a lot of penalties especially in the first period. Windsor has this new player who is number 66 and his name is Ho-Sang or something like that and he looks pretty fast and good. He needs to pass more though because he was always trying to stickhandle the puck through our defenders and it wasn't working.

They have Sieloff too, number 10 who was playing physical and talking a lot. I think those are the Spitfires good guys.

Michael Whaley scored his first goal of the year and that was cool. He had a good game forechecking too and harassing the Spitfires. We like Whaley.

Stefan Noesen was awesome and had two goals and two assists. He is always with Rickard Rakell now and they are looking good. I give Stefan Noesen the Whaler Town player of the game.

I also saw Nick Malysa walking around with a cast on his hand so that is not good and he is going to be missing some games. Oh well.

I think the Whalers forgot that I won the Kids Club signed photo two weeks ago because I won a signed photo of Alex Aleardi again last night but that is ok. I will take it. I wasn't even listening because I won two weeks ago and my dad said "They just announced your name. You won again!" I said "What?" and then I saw my name on the big screen so I went and got my signed photo.

Ok, we are going to see the Whalers play the London Knights tonight. I have tryouts for a tournament travel hockey team, the Arsenal 02's just before but I think can get to the Whalers game before it starts. Well, I hope so.

Whalers win on Election Day!

Hey, the Whalers beat the Saginaw Spirit 4-1 today. It was the special Election Day afternoon game.

The first two periods were just ok for the Whalers but in the third period they turned it on and got two goals and beat the Spirit. There weren't many people at the game because it was an afternoon game during the week but they missed all the fun. Actually after the game, we were eating at McDonald's in Northville and a boy my age came in and saw my jersey and said "Are you going to the Whalers game tonight?". I said "They just played and we went and they won." He said "I wish I went!"

Rickard Rakell scored one goal and had two assists. Stefan Noesen had two goals so I give him the Whaler Town player of the game. I put up a picture of Stefan, Mitchell Heard and me.

Also tomorrow is my brother Alex's 16th birthday and they announced his name and birthday over the loudspeaker and put his name on the big screen. He did not even know they were going to do it and he was surprised.

The Whalers also play Friday and Saturday at Compuware Arena so we get three games this week!

Going to Owen Sound this week

I am going to Owen Sound this week with my family to our cottage for a vacation. Well, actually the cottage is on Manitoulin Island right near Owen Sound and we drive right through Owen Sound to get there.

I am going to wear my Whalers jersey there. You know, to show them who's boss.

Go Whalers!
