Two Whaler games
Like my picture in my uniform? I took it myself. I have 9 goals and 3 assists in 6 games and am the leading scorer on my team which is Mission and the #3 scorer in the league. We are 2-4 so we have to pick it up.
I saw two Whaler games over the weekend. They didn't play so good Friday against Owen Sound. The Owen Sound players are pretty big but Carter Sandlak was battling and fighting them. I am liking him.
Saturday, the Whalers played better against Sarnia. The game-winning goal at the end by Zach Lorentz was great. It was right by us and he shot it with his back to the net. Compuware Arena got really loud after that.
Saturday was Pink Out day and my mom wore our pink Stefan Noesen jersey. A lot of people were wearing their pink jerseys. It's cool when my mom comes and she comes a couple of times a year. My Uncle Mike and Aunt Kristen came too. My mom took me to the Whalers Pink Out dinner a few days before the game and I met a lot of the new players and got my picture taken with them. Matt Mistele asked me who my favorite player was and I said Ryan Hartman and Matt said "He is my favorite too." That's cool. It was a good time. Maybe I will post some pictures.

Whalers: 11 Sting: 2

The Whalers easily beat the Sting tonight at Compuware Arena in Game 1 of the playoffs. The Sting goalie J.P. Anderson gave up two bad goals and the Whalers went ahead 2-0 and the Whalers just kept going. We counted two more bad goals later so there were four for him. We remember he used to be good for Mississauga but we checked the score sheet and his save percentage this year is .907 so he isn't so good this year.
Carnevale on the Sting lost it after getting hit by Matt Mistele in the first period. After the hit, he was on the bench and then started swinging his stick at the Whalers bench and trying to climb over to the Whalers bench. Then he pulled Mistele who was on the ice over to him and started punching him while he was sitting on the bench. He was out of control and it was a little scary.
We saw he did not come out for the second or third periods.
Vince Trocheck had a hat trick and one assist so I give him the Whaler Town player of the game. Trocheck just keeps on rolling. Going to the game tomorrow and will be cheering them on.
I have a game for one of my hockey teams and a practice for the other but we should be done in time for the Whalers game.

Whalers come back against the Storm
A good game for the Whalers last night but it didn't start so good. The Whalers were losing 3-0 in the first period after two really weak goals. Then we changed goaltenders and started over.
Posa from Guelph then had a bad 5 minute high stick penalty and got kicked out of the game and we sit right by the visitors tunnel and he slammed the door shut when he was leaving and was really mad. I was standing up and pointing to the tunnel and told him he had to go. Actually I do that to every player on the other team when they get thrown out. Then the Whalers scored two goals in the 5 minutes and after that the Whalers kept scoring and won 7-4. It was great. I give Matt Mistele the Whaler Town player of the game because he got a hat trick. The Whalers have won 5 in a row which is cool.
It was Autograph Night last night and after the game the Whalers came out and signed autographs. I got all the Whaler players autographs and some guys I got two and Vincent Trochek I got three. All the Whalers are nice. Matt Mistele, Sebastian Uvira and Mitchell Heard were about the nicest last night. Before last night, I had over 200 signed Whaler cards and I probably got 30 or 40 last night so I will have to count and see how many I have now.
The next game at Compuware Arena is Friday against Windsor and it will be cool to see Alex Aleardi in his first game back but it will be strange to see him in a Windsor uniform. My dad might have a late meeting Friday so my mom said if that happens, she will take me and Alex to the game so we don't miss.

Whalers take care of the Petes
One thing we noticed is that the Petes let the Whalers sit in the slot a lot and do not move or pick up the guy so that gives a lot of good scoring chances. Matt Mistele had two goals and one was from the slot and Gianluca Curcuruto had two goals and he always gets his on slap shots from the point. Gianluca has a real hard shot and he also almost always puts the puck on net. Other guy's shots from the blue line sometimes miss the net. I give Matt Mistele the Whaler Town player of the game. Matt is a really smooth player. He's also pretty cool. At the first autograph game this year, I was wearing my Hartford Whalers hat and when he was signing my cards and smiled and said "I like your hat!"
One cool thing is that my brother caught an MGM Grand Casino t-shirt and it fits him too.
It was Trading Card Night tonight and I got my pack of Whalers cards and they look really good this year, maybe the best ever. One good thing is they were able to get our new players Vincent Trocheck and Sebastian Uvira in the set. I am going to get the cards signed at the second autograph night in two weeks. I already have over 200 signed Whaler cards and I am going to get more.
Now the bad news. Real bad news! I have to miss both games next week. Friday, I have to do something and I would rather see the Whalers but I am signed up for something. Saturday, I have a night game in my league at the same time as the Whalers. I don't mind missing Saturday because I want to play every game I can. My brother is going Saturday but not Friday so he can tell me about the Saturday game. This is the first time since we have been season ticket holders that I missed two games in a row.
So go Whalers and win while I am gone next week!

Mistele and Trochek help the Whalers beat Bramptom
Before the pre-game warmups, me and my brother Alex stood at the Whalers tunnel like we always do waiting for them to come out and slap their hands as they are walking to the ice. I had my hand out and most of the Whalers got it but Trochek didn't and I thought well maybe he doesn't slap hands but that is ok as long as he plays good. I see Trochek is number 25 now and not 89 like he was with Saginaw because I don't think the Whalers do those real high numbers. Well anyway, when the pre-game warmups were over and the players were coming off the ice, Trochek gave me a puck which was very cool. I heard when he was younger he played on Little Caesars which is cool because some kids on my team play for Little Caesars too and they are the best players.
Well the Whalers played pretty well and beat Brampton 4-2. Matt Mistele scored two goals. The first was when he was in the slot in front of the net and got a pass and shot it in. The second was a really pretty passing play on a break and he got a pass on left wing and put a quick shot in. I give Mistele the Whaler Town player of the game. Trochek got two assists and was doing playmaking and throwing checks too. The Whalers are really starting to click right now.
My old school, Orchard Hills Elementary in Novi was at the game and sang the National Anthems and I took some pictures and maybe I will put some up here.
Tonight is Country Night at Compuware Arena and there is a concert by a country band, Annabelle Road after the game. I saw them play last year and maybe I will stay this year and watch them again. I am not a big country western fan though but that is ok.

Kingston comes back against the Whalers
The Kingston Frontenacs beat the Whalers 7-6 tonight.
The Whalers should have won this game! The Whalers outshot Kingston by a lot and were winning in the third period but then we gave up three easy goals on weak shots. Two of them were "five-hole". Every time there is five-hole goal against the Whalers I always say to my dad "Five-hole!". Matt is a good goalie but he needs to close up the five-hole. I know on my team when a five-hole goes in, I am usually thinking, "Man, did that really go in." But it is a team game and I make mistakes on defense too so you can't get too mad.
Matt Mistele had a hat trick tonight so I give him the Whaler Town player of the game for his three goals. I wish it could have been in a win. Matt Mistele is really nice. During autograph night a few weeks ago, he said to me "I like your hat! What team is that?" and I told him it was the Hartford Whalers.
Gianluca Curcuruto had a another good game and was really carrying the puck and making some scoring chances. He also is good at bringing the puck up the ice like Beau Schmitz used to do. My dad told me to watch his shot from the point because it is strong and it is. We are liking Gianluca.
I forgot to mention, Kingston had a guy who grabbed and threw a punch at Tom Wilson while he was sitting on the bench. He only got two minutes for fighting from the bench. He should have been kicked out the game. He's lucky.
Oh, well. I bet the Whalers are going to pick it up next week.
Go Whalers!

Whalers put the Ice Dogs back in their cage!
Do you like the title of my post? My dad said I should say "The Whalers ice the Ice Dogs" but I said it had to be something about putting the Ice Dogs in a cage so this is what I thought of.
Yesterday, me and my dad saw the Whalers beat the Niagra Ice Dogs 6-3. It was a great game! Cody Payne got a goal and an assist and was the first star of the game. Our backup goalie Riley Corbin was playing his first OHL game and he was making some spectacular saves right in front of us. He did let in a really long shot off right wing but maybe he was screened and couldn't see. I give Riley Corbin the Whaler Town player of the game.
Also, our coach Mike Vellucci got his 400th OHL win. Veullucci is the best coach in the OHL.
It was Team Autograph Night yesterday so after the game the Whalers all came out and signed autographs for the fans and that was cool. I brought my Whaler hockey cards and got 25 signed. Now, I have 180 Whalers signed cards. All the Whalers were nice but Matt Mistele and Alex Aleardi were the nicest.
Next week is the Pink Out game for breast cancer awareness. If my mom can do it, I am going to get my hair colored pink for the game.
Go Whalers!
